A few days ago, I saw a post on the internet that gave me the creeps: dildos it was a real life-size sex doll of Selena Gomez. There was this plastic-like figure that looked like her, from the skin to her outfit and hair. I mean, it was definitely disturbing but also intriguing at the same time. Of course, I was also scared of the implications of having such an item available on the market. What kind of message was this sending to the world?
I had questions running through my mind. Who would create such a thing? Why would someone spend money on it? Would this lead to people objectifying real women? These were all thoughts I was pondering on.
On one hand, I was disgusted at the idea of having a sex doll of a celebrity, but I also could not help to think that if this was a real person, would it really be so wrong? If a regular person had a doll of themselves, would it be as grotesque? After all, it is their body and they have the right to do what they want with it.
On the other hand, if someone wanted to use a sex doll of a celebrity as some sort of fetish, that was another problem entirely. They were using someone’s body without their consent – just to make money. It was wrong in so many ways.
I was also feeling sad about this situation. So, what was the motivation behind this? Was it really about money? Or was it about objectifying women’s bodies yet again? Why are we still stuck at this point in our history? More importantly, sex toys when would this attitude change?
I guess there is no definite answer and this issue is far more complex than what we can think of. I mean, this is a strange situation and no one was expecting this to happen – that a celebrity’s likeness can be manufactured for such a purpose. It’s a brave new world.
As far as I am concerned, I think having a sex doll of a celebrity is wrong and can be harmful to society. The marketing of such items should be regulated and people should be educated about the implications of objectifying women. People should be mature enough to understand that their desires should not influence the choices of others.
